Biography
Born in 1986, Joanie Carlier began playing the bassoon at the age of 9 at the Tourcoing Conservatory of Music with Gilles Desmazières. She then studied at the Lille Conservatory with Jean Louis Ollé.
In 2004, she entered the Conservatoire Supérieur de Lyon in the class of Carlo Colombo and Jean Pignoly.
In 2005, she won first prize in the Rotary Club competition.
She works with the biggest symphony orchestras, including the Lyon Opera and the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie and the Lorraine Orchestra, and is regularly invited by the music and wine festival at Clos Vougeot.
She completed her studies in 2008, obtaining a first prize in bassoon, with highest honors unanimously. That same year, she joined the OPRL as principal bassoonist.
She is also a member of the Abocalips trio and the Edonis duo, and with the latter won second prize at the Iberian Chamber Music Competition with Harp in Madrid. Since 2010, she has worked with Garret List in the Vivo orchestra.
She is also a performer and records for various projects (Balimurphy, Johan Dupont, Cloé du Trèfle, Mozart Vibration, etc.).
In 2018 she founded the Bacchus Quartet, an unusual quartet consisting of an oboe (Sébastien Guedj), two bassoons (with Audrey Luzignant) and a baritone saxophone (Sebastien Creppe). This group performs on stages all over Belgium.
Since 2022 she has been sharing her passion by teaching bassoon at the Amay Academy (information here )
